Overview: Our Special Education Teachers do not work alone! Our teachers have additional access to our support system of SLPs, OTs, PTs, Aquatics, TVIs, BCBAs, and Mentor Teachers!

Summary: Instruct elementary and/or junior high students with Autism and Mild/Moderate Intellectual Disabilities; by adapting and developing educational materials to meet the unique needs of students. Strive to ensure that students reach their full learning potential by supporting them through their academic instruction and social skill development. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (includes but limited to):

• Develop and implement individualized education plans and instructional programs
• Provide ongoing and periodic evaluations of students’ progress and make recommendations concerning curriculum areas to be emphasized and required accommodations
• Develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents/caregivers and inform them of the student’s progress
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping system
• Provide supervision and direction to classroom Paraprofessionals and implement behavior intervention techniques for classroom management
• Participate in MET and IEP meetings
• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to implement therapeutic and educational programs
• Comply with ACCEL policies

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises one or more paraprofessionals in the classroom and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education
• Arizona Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement in the area being hired to teach

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of classroom experience

Pay: From $57,000.00 per year--$61,000 per year also negotiable
